Sun Dance Park is located at the southwest corner of Melvern Lake, near Reading, Kansas. It is managed by the Corps of Engineers.
Camping at Sun Dance Park is free, and includes a campground with 30 gravel camp pads, plus a picnic area with a shelter available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Three pit toilets are available, and potable water is available.
Other campgrounds at Melvern Lake include Arrow Rock Park, Coeur d' Alene Park, Outlet Park, Turkey Point Park, and Eisenhower State Park, all pay sites.
Melvern Lake is also home to the Melvern Lake Trails, which features several mountain bike trails, covering a total of over 30 miles of trail wandering through the prairie and into rocky ravines and woodlands.
