The Redbud Trail is a rail-trail conversion on a former Burlington Northern/Santa Fe rail corridor that stretches from the I-135 Canal Route in Wichita, and east past Augusta, for a distance of about 11 miles. The trail passes city parks, employment hubs, and the Wichita State University campus.
The trail is currently a work in progress, with portions paved, portions graveled, and portions undeveloped. The paved portion of the trail is about 2.5 miles, from the I-135 bike path at Murdock Street northeast to the WSU campus, and features a ten-foot wide concrete path and a pedestrian bridge crossing the I-135 canal.
