Santa Fe Lake - Entrance Signs - These are the entrance signs at Santa Fe Lake. Note that alcohol and firearms are prohibited. All users need to purchase a permit at the lake office. Santa Fe Lake - Campsite - This is a typical campsite at Santa Fe Lake, with a picnic table, fire ring, electricity, and grass for tenting. There are nearby portable toilets. Santa Fe Lake - Sunrise - Sunrise at Santa Fe Lake can be beautiful, with waterfowl and reeds in the water. Santa Fe Lake - Tent - This was my tent set up at Santa Fe Lake, along the west side of the lake. The concrete appeared to be landings for old docks. There was ample grass, and trees for shade in summer. Santa Fe Lake Trails - Entrance Sign - This sign is located at the entrance to the Santa Fe Lake Trails. The trails are for walking and biking, and users are required to purchase a daily permit at the nearby office.
Santa Fe Lake Trails -- Doubletrack - This is the first section of the Santa Fe Lake Trails. At this point it is doubletrack, but the trail apparently narrows and becomes singletrack further in. Bourbon State Fishing Lake - Entrance Sign - This is the entrance sign at Bourbon State Fishing Lake (or, as it's labeled here, Bourbon State Fishing Lake - Campsite - This is a typical campsite at Bourbon State Fishing Lake, with trees, grass, picnic table, and fire ring. Some sites are right next to the lake, while others are set back in the trees. Southwind Rail Trail - Trail Rules - This sign provides the rules of the trail for bicyclists and pedestrians on the Southwind Rail Trail. Hours are dawn to dusk. Southwind Rail Trail - Road Crossing - This is a typical road crossing on the Southwind Rail Trail, with bollards to keep out motor vehicle traffic. Road traffic has right-of-way.
Southwind Rail Trail - Elm Creek Bridge - This is the historic Elm Creek bridge on the Southwind Rail Trail. This bridge originally carried railroad traffic. Railings were added, using wood hand-crafted by a local artisan. Atchison State Fishing Lake - Campsite - This is a typical campsite at Atchison State Fishing Lake, with a picnic table, fire ring, grass for tents, and plenty of shade, with nearby access to restrooms and the lake. Atchison County Lake - Entrance Sign - The entrance sign for Atchison County Lake provides a few rules and regulations, as well as a phone number to call with questions: 785-548-7727. Atchison County Lake - Campsite - This is a typical campsite at Atchison County Lake, with a picnic table, grass, share, easy access to the lake, and nearby trash can. Atchison County Lake - Stone Shelter House - This is one of the impressive and historic stone shelter houses at Atchison County Lake.
Atchison County Lake - Stone Restrooms - There are a number of these old stone restrooms around the lake, featuring pit toilets. Atchison State Fishing Lake - Entrance Sign - This is the entrance sign for Atchison State Fishing Lake and Wildlife Area. The stone marker on the right reads Atchison State Fishing Lake - Restroom - This is a typical restroom at Atchison State Fishing Lake. Pit toilet, no running water, but clean and well-kept. Nebo State Fishing Lake - Lake View - This is a view of Nebo State Fishing Lake from the entrance road. It's a very small lake, and this is basically the extent of the maintained area, with pit toilets, and no other services. There are no defined camping areas, fire rings, or picnic tables, but it's a clean and attractive lake, and the entire property is available for primitive camping. Valley Falls Riverside Park - Sign - This is the entrance sign for Valley Falls Riverside Park, with pricing information.
Valley Falls Riverside Park - Pads - These are the RV pads, with water and electric hookups, at Valley Falls Riverside Park. There is ample tent camping area behind the RV pads. Valley Falls Riverside Park - Restroom and Water - This is the water faucet at Valley Falls Riverside Park. Inside the white building is a flush toilet, with the door on the opposite side. Nebo State Fishing Lake - Wildflowers - Prairie Coneflowers at Nebo State Fishing Lake in Jackson County, Kansas. Old Military Trail Campground - Shelter - This is the shelter at the Old Military Trail Campground at Perry Lake. It includes picnic tables, a grill, and fire ring. There is grass nearby, and along the access road, for tenting. Old Military Trail Campground - Water - There is a water hydrant at the Old Military Trail Campground at Perry Lake. Instructions say to run the water for a few minutes before drinking.
Mission Lake - Entrance Sign - This is the entrance sign for Mission Lake in Horton, Kansas. The entrance to the lake is located off Wilson Drive on the northeast edge of Horton, off US-73 highway. Mission Lake - Restrooms - This is a typical restroom at Mission Lake in Horton, Kansas. Pit toilets. Mission Lake - Rates - This sign lists the rates for Mission Lake in Horton, Kansas. Camping is $6 per day. Old Military Trail Campground - Entrance Sign - This is the entrance sign for the Old Military Trail Campground at Perry Lake. Adjacent to the sign, out of frame, is the old park road, with a gate to keep motor vehicles out. Just walk your bike around the gate, then up the hill to the camping area.
