Highways US-160, K-51, K-44, US-166, US-75, US-400, and K-126 cross the southern tier of Kansas. It is a cross-state bicycle route recommended by the Kansas Department of Transportation. It offers wide shoulders along all or most of its length, and low traffic volumes, particularly in the western half of the state.
