The American Discovery Trail is a cross-country hiking and biking trail that stretches approximately 6800 miles through fifteen states. In the center of the country, it splits into northern and southern routes; Kansas is on the southern route.
The Kansas ADT Route is about 570 miles long, connecting Coolidge in the west and Leawood in the east. Much of the ADT route through the state follows the historic Santa Fe Trail route. "The majority of the route through the Sunflower State is on paved or gravel back roads. About 28 miles of the route in Johnson County is on paved bike trails."
