The Walnut Valley Metric ride is held each year on the last Sunday of September. The event offers 35 and 65 mile rides starting at the Recreation Center in Winfield, Kansas at 8:00 am. The routes travel through scenic Cowley County on gently-rolling hills and lightly-traveled secondary roads. Registration fee includes rest stops, SAGs, and lunch at Liberty Township School House. Saturday night camping is available at Winfield Lake.
The Walnut Valley Metric is a fundraiser for Prairie Travelers, which is building the Prairie Sunset Trail from Wichita to Garden Plain.
