The Grassland Grind is a gravel bike race in historic Council Grove, Kansas. The Grassland Grind has been created to promote cycling in Council Grove and surrounding areas. It also is an opportunity to raise funds for the Council Grove Life Center, a nonprofit organization that serves many surrounding areas and all age groups by promoting wellness and education through innovative mind, body, and social experiences. The funds raised will be used to purchase spin bikes and other equipment for the Life Center.
There are 3 different course options to choose from: A 9-mile ride on the Flint Hills Nature Trail; a 28-mile ride near Council Grove Reservoir; and a 45-mile ride on some amazingly rugged gravel with rolling hills that will literally take your breath away. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female riders in the 28 and 45 mile rides.
Upon returning to Council Grove be sure to take advantage of the Council Grove Fall Festival including Grilling in the Grove barbecue cook-off where you can purchase great food and sample the barbecue that has been cooking while you enjoyed your day on your bike. Plan on staying for the Voices of the Wind People Pageant.
