Garden City Bike Rodeo

The Kansas Kids Fitness, Safety & Bike Rodeo Day is an annual event that takes place in Garden City, Kansas. Make sure your family knows the safety rules they need for their summer activities. Bring your bike and ride an obstacle course with the Bike Cops.

The event is hosted by the Garden City Recreation Commission. One of the main focuses of the event is to provide kids with bicycle helmets, and over 100 bicycle helmets are provided to local children each year. The event has evolved into providing a variety of safety lessons, from fire safety to simulators designed to teach kids the importance of wearing seat belts, but the highlight of the event is the bike rodeo:

Kids are encouraged to bring their bicycles to the event, so that they can participate in the bike rodeo, which is put on by the Garden City bicycle cops.

"The bicycle cops will line all the kids up and they'll take different groups, run them through cones. They'll teach them how to stop properly on cement, how to put their feet down. They'll teach them signals; they'll go through a little course."

The Garden City Bike Rodeo takes place from 3:30pm to 5pm at the Finney County Exhibition Building parking lot, 518 S 9th St, Garden City, KS 67846. Admission is free.
