Crowley's Ridge National Scenic Byway Ride is a week-long, 310-mile adventure tour along Crowley's Ridge National Scenic Byway between Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Helena, Arkansas.
Crowley's Ridge is named for Benjamin Crowley, the first European settler in the region (1820). It is the most prominent feature in the Mississippi Alluvial Plain between Cape Girardeau, Missouri and the Gulf of Mexico. Rising 250 - 550 feet above the delta flatland, the Ridge is composed of wind-blown loess and is believed to have originally been an island between the Missippi River and Ohio River that became a long low hilly ridge after the rivers changed course millions of years ago. Additional uplift created by the New Madrid Seismic Fault is also considered part of the Ridge's unique geologic history.
Most of the key historic sites and towns in the Arkansas Delta are located along Crowley's Ridge. Unique geologic formations, documented Arkansas history sites, some of the best birding in North America, good food and great hospitality are all part of this home-style countryside.
Cost: $130.00 for entire trip; $30 per day (includes camping fees, rest stop snacks, transport back to orgin or transport of supplies to the next nights stop, SAG Support, t-shirt (for day riders) or jersey (for those who complete the entire course).
