In addition to performing traditional bike shop duties, Acme is also Kansas City's only custom frame shop. All Acme frames are of handbuilt steel construction, either lugged or fillet-brazed, more than the materials is the attitude. Looking to time-honored traditions - because sometimes the old ways are still the best ways - they incorporate the best of today's innovations in design, material, and engineering. Their aim is to build bikes that will be ridden hard and valued because they work brilliantly and they look beautiful. Each Acme frame is handcrafted one at a time by a pair of craftswomen. City riding and loaded touring are very different than road cycling. It takes a different breed of bicycle.
Acme bicycles are designed for the urban rider/vagabond who demands much more from his/her bicycle than the weekend warrior road racer. Each Acme bicycle is different because each one matches its owner's vision of the perfect go-everywhere, do-everything bicycle.
