Today is day #11 of the 2012 30 Days Of Biking challenge:
This photo captures a brief encounter between cyclists and a motorist on a small rural hill, with everyone involved demonstrating model behavior.
The cyclists are not hugging the edge of the road, but are controlling the narrow lane, which helps to discourage motorists from thinking they can squeeze past.
The motorist — in this case an officer in a Johnson County Sheriff’s patrol car — waits patiently, well back from the cyclists, giving them room and not pressuring them, or acting impatient or aggressive.
In a few seconds, the cyclists and motorists clear the hill, the car passes, and everyone goes on their way safely.
Kudos to all!
