Saturday June 20th is the annual Historic Gravel Road Ride in Baldwin City, Kansas. In previous years this was known as the “Mullet Ride”.
It “connects all of the famous historical markers in the Baldwin area. It follows Quantrill’s Trail and the Santa Fe Trail. It connects famous landmarks such as Hickory Point, Dow Cemetery, Signal Oak Lookout, the Battle of Black Jack site, the Brooklyn landmark and we ride by the Santa Fe Trail Ruts.”
There are 12 and 25 mile options (see route map). Meet at “Antiques On The Prairie” at 6th and High Street (park at Collin’s Gym on 6th street). The ride rolls at 8:30am. It’s free! 
The ride is part of Baldwin City’s “Planes Trains & Automobiles” festival, with a vintage bicycle show, vintage car & motorcycle shows, train rides on Midland Railway, plane rides at Vinland Airport, and a ChrisCakes Pancake Breakfast at 7:30am.
I did this ride last year, and it’s a lot of fun. There are some challenging hills, but the historical sites and scenery are definitely worth it.
